2005-2006 Halloween

Students and teachers came to school dressed in their costumes on Thursday, October 27. Mrs. Barnes, Mr. Thomlinson, Mr. Mayes and an unknown teacher enjoyed showing their Halloween spirit by dressing up along with the students.





Student Appreciation BBQ

Student Appreciation BBQ was held at both lunches for students to get hot dogs and hamburgers on Thursday, October 27. The administration help serve the food to the students to show them how much they appreciate their hard work and dedication to making Foothill High School one of the best schools in CCSD.

Other Achievements

  • Tuesday, November 22, the 50th Annual Sun Youth Forum was held at the Las Vegas Convention Center. 1,270 students from 38 area high schools were in attendance for this full day event. 27 of these students were from Foothill High School. At the conclusion of the day-long event, seven students are chosen to represent each of the seven subject areas for appearances on TV (Channel 70, 10, and 8), seven students for an hour-long radio interview, and seven students will write a column in the Las Vegas Sun. Of these 21 students, three are from FHS. Senior Justin S. will appear on the radio broadcast, Junior Johnny A. will write the column for the Las Vegas Sun, and Junior Connor F. will be the FHS representative on Television. In addition, senior Jessica J. was awarded one of ten $1,000 scholarships from the Greenspun Foundation.
  • On Saturday, December 3rd at Clark HS, 20 Foothill students auditioned for the CCSD Honor Bands. Of the 20, the following 15 Falcons were selected.
    Greg B., Brett B., Kody E., William G., Katie H., Devin M., Landan M., Chris N., Trevor S., Thomas S., Christopher T., Steven T., Mark W. Nathan W., and Jason W.
  • Congratulations to the Drill Team who won 2nd place at an open National Dance Competition. They've come a long way this year and we are proud of them.
  • The Falcons took 1st place at the Centennial High School Drumline Invitational.
  • Congratulations are in order to the following DECA students who competed at the Galleria Mall in the district's DECA competition. The team of Josh A. & Steve S. earned a 3rd place showing in the e-commerce decision making event, Elise R. earned 2nd place in the Food Marketing associate level event, the team of Breanna A. & Emerald P. earned a first place win in Financial Services Management Decision Making event, the team of Courtney M. & Josh P. earned a first place spot in Hospitality Management Decision Making event, & the team of Rhea C. & Josh M. earned a 1st place win in the Travel& Tourism Management Decision Making Event. Finally congrats should go out to Anthony C. for his 1st place showing on his Technical Sales presentation.
  • Congratulations to the following seven FHS Band students who were selected by audition to participate in the 2006 All-State Band and Orchestra ensembles...
    Devin M., Landan M., Trevor S., Brett B., Kody E., Chris N., and Greg B., This is a record number of students making All-State from Foothill High School. These students will travel to Reno March 30 through April 1st.
  • On March 1, 2006; 175 sophomores, juniors, and seniors attended the Academic Letter Ceremony where they were given an Academic Letter or pin to acknowledge their academic achievements. Also ,these students represented 13% of the sophomore, junior, and senior classes.
  • Congratulations to the Varsity Dance Team who are the proud new owners of the 4A Jazz Dance State Champion Title! The girls won the first ever Silver State Spirit Championships in Carson City!
  • Congratulations to the FHS Wind Symphony (Advanced Band) for receiving Division 1 Ratings (the highest ratings possible) from all 4 judges at the CCSD Concert Band Festival.
  • Congratulations are in order to our DECA students who competed at the state competition. Ten out of the 14 competitors that competed became Nevada State champions. Nine out of 10 champions earned 1st place wins over all in their perspective events. All members of our DECA chapter went on stage placing in the top 10. Overall, Foothill earned 4th place in the state due to the numbers of medals earned.

    Congratulate the following students when you see them. They now have the opportunity of competing at Nationals in Dallas, May 1st.

  • In the annual Teachers vs. Students Basketball Game, the teachers defeated the students with a late 4th quarter ralley. The score: Teachers (68) Students (65)
  • Congratulations to the Foothill Indoor Drumline for taking 1st Place at the American Drum Line Association (ADLA) competition in Los Angeles.
  • Congratulations to the Varsity Dance Team who took first place in both the jazz AND hiphop category in Hollywood, CA. The girls were named West Coast Champions on the same stage as the Oscars in the Kodak Theater!
  • Congratulations to Nick Waters and the Foothill High School Indoor Percussion Ensemble for taking 1st Place in the Southern Nevada Drum Line Championships held Wednesday, April 26 at Spring Valley High School. This performance concludes the Southern Nevada competitive season where Foothill took 1st Place at all 4 competitions as well as winning an ADLA regional competition in California. The Falcons will travel to Los Angeles to compete in the American Drum Line Association Championships against over 100 groups.
  • Foothill's SkillsUSA Team did GREAT at the State Tournament! 15 Medals and 6 Students Qualified to go to Nationals in Kansas City this June!

    Advertising Design 4th place - Tyler C. and our 3D Animation Team of Brandon H. and Josh M. came in 4th.



    Congratulations to Nick Waters and the Foothill High School Drum Line for taking 3rd Place in the American Drum Line Association Championships on Sunday, April 30, 2006 in Fontana, California. The Falcons were among over 100 Drum Lines and we took First Place in our class in Visual Effect.

On December 5, 2005; Republican Senator John Ensign paid a visit to this school to talk to the seniors about their future.
