Homecoming Activities
This year's Homecoming theme was "A Night at the Oscars." The traditional Spirit Week was packed with lots of related activities to the Oscar theme, including Dress-Up as a Celebrity Day. The "Oscar Night" assembly had several exciting events and surprises. There were class competitions, performances by the band, cheerleaders, dance team and even a special fire twirling performance from one of Foothill's own students. Mr. Johns "Travel" also made a special appearance dancing to the theme song from Saturday Night Fever. The 2001 Homecoming King, Wingo, was crowned and later at the Homecoming game, the Queen, Stafford, was crowned. A new tradition was also established featuring the class floats for each class. As if that wasn't enough, after the assembly, a parade was held that included class floats, and performing groups, as homecoming royalty made its way through the city of Henderson. To top off the fantastic week, we had an fantastic football game crushing Cheyenne with a victory of 36-13 score.

Miracle Minute
In just one minute on Friday, September 28, 2001, students amazingly raised $1,500 for the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Drive. The Miracle Minute was sponsored by Student Council and DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America) group. Thanks to everyone for the extra effort! A special thanks to Red Robin and Big Dogs restaurants for their donations! Foothill High School appreciates your support!

Falcons Soar in Fall Sports
There's been big accomplishments in the fall sports, specifically in golf and football. In girls golf, Fernandez shot par 72 at Silverstone Golf Club to take first in the Sunrise Regional Girls Golf Tournament. This is also her second individual title in three years at the NIAA/U.S. Then in football, Foothill's varsity football took home the Henderson Championship title and continued on to the playoff games, ending with a cold, snowy lost in Reno to McQueen High School. McQueen went on to beat Las Vegas HS for the state title the following week.

Mr. Johns' Farewell to FHS
After 28 years in the Clark County School District, Mr. Johns is taking a leave of absence to assume the position of Director of Admissions at Nevada State College.
"Opening Foothill High School and serving as founding principal here the past three years has been an honor. I have been quite fortunate to work in an environment where each day is a pleasure. A wonderful student body, caring parents and a great staff have made Foothill High School the finest High School in the Clark County School District. Thank you for your support and allowing me to be a part of this exciting Foothill High School community. I look forward to hearing great things about Foothill High School in the future."
Sincerely,
Mr. Johns

Northwest Accreditation
April 23, 2002
Overcrowding in surrounding Henderson schools made it evident that a new high school would be needed. That's when Foothill High School was opened in the fall of 1999. By that time, it was established among the staff, parents, and the students, that plenty of work would have to be directed towards a single goal. A goal of making sure that Foothill was an environment that the students and community served, that the value structure of the school should be identified, a shared vision of student learning would be ascertained, and the effectiveness of current instructional practices had to be analyzed. These long-term goals will be incorporated into all of the years of Foothill High School to come, each year pulling the staff and students alike to closer to realizing that all their hard work was really worth it.
